I like to read historical books but sometimes, I admit, the fact that my history knowledge is not very well, I have to look for the other books and find explanations so I could understand the circumstances of the story plot. This time, thanks to the author, I didn't do that, because Theodore Modis was kind enough to, after almost every chapter in the book, give an extensive but understandable description of historical and political circumstances in which the previous chapter of the story took part.This made reading much easier since I could focus on only one book, the book I'm reading, and not searching for historical facts to make me able to understand the story. And this way I could totally enjoy in the amazing journey through time and places described in a book. I could easily follow the main characters and have no problem losing myself (as usual) in the historical and political context.Even the journey was sometimes sad and dreadful, it still was thrilling and exotic, and definitely worth reading. And learning new things about the complex history of one part of the world.

It’s an impressive work by Theodore Modis and I’ll certainly be looking forward to reading more from him in the future. I would highly recommend this amazing and inspiring biography. A well-deserved five stars from me.
It is so often that historical accounts are written from the point of view and/or about men that focusing on a woman for once is a real breath of fresh air. I must admit that I didn't know much about the events this book covers so I am grateful for the opportunity to learn something new. I was very glad the author didn't just assume you'd pick up this book if you were already familiar with the events so he provides a lot of the historical context and setting so that you wouldn't be lost at any point. His writing is clear and flows freely. I find that usually novels like this can feel a bit like textbooks, but this isn't the case at all with "Fortune Favors the Bold". I found the story to be interesting, thrilling and emotional. An amazing read!
This book is well written and interesting life journey of one woman that mirrors a faith of many more just like her. Thru the wars, conflicts and challenges of life she relies on herself to thrive and succeed. The historical and political background is well explained so the story is easy to follow and to put in context of the events. I like books like this, books of ordinary women made extraordinary by events and life circumstances. Characters are relatable and nicely built.
I Really enjoyed this book, extensive research and wonderful writing, I found it hard to put down.
