Don't get the kindle copy, it is too hard to flip back to a recipe or something you need to locate quickly while decorating cookies. I ordered this and was expecting a book. I guess that I ordered it as a kindle item.:( Be sure that you don't make that same mistake, now I have to pay for the book on top of the kindle copy which was almost $12.I ordered three books on Cookie Decorating and this is the one that I refer to mostly. I really didn't need the others. This book is the best one by far. I am enclosing pictures on my first try for my daughter's baby shower.
This is an absolutely beautiful informative book. It is loaded with numerous large color photos showing a step by step view of many different decorating techniques. While these detailed photos completely depict the technique, they are also accompanied with written instructions, making the techniques easy to follow and appealing to all levels of expertise.Here is a Partial list of some techniques covered:1. A plan for this year is to become competent in baking and decorating rolled, cutout cookies. Thanks to this excellent book, I'm now very motivated! The information is detailed and logically presented, and the many, many photographs are clear and helpful. It's hard to imagine a more useful handbook for learning cookie decorating. I'm reading the general information, some of which is guiding me in choosing materials and supplies. I'm grateful for that guidance, since there is so much to choose from and I totally don't know what I'm doing. Autumn has definitely provided good learning guidelines to a cookie decorating newbie who was feeling a little overwhelmed.
I've only just started with cookies and cookie decorating and this book was recommended by several people on a forum I belong to. I also enrolled in the author's Craftsy class. This book has so far been everything I need for my cookie decorating. It's very informative. :) My first large batch of cookies was a hit! My only gripe? I wish I had gotten the actual book, not the Kindle edition! I just want to sit and flip through the pages!!
I purchased this book shortly after it was released. I've been making cookies decorated with royal icing for about 1 1/2 years. This book surpassed my expectations for information. The ideas are endless but all possible because of the great instructions and numerous photos. Strongly recommend this to a beginner or advanced cookie baker. Order it, sit back with a cup of tea and a cookie and enjoy the wealth of information!
I took a Craftsy course instructed by Autumn Carpenter. Many, if not all, of the techniques done in this book were done in the course. This book is an excellent book to back up that course and review as needed, but it is also great without the course. Wonderful ideas and the instruction is easy to understand. The course is certainly worth taking as well.
I was very surprised by this book (Complete Photo Guide to Cookie decorating) in the number of ideas that was listed. The author also wrote a Cake version which I bought and thought it was AMAZING ! This book is great for beginners and those more experienced. It has lots of ideas and skills . It is all written very simply too.
This book has lots of good ideas and I used the sugar cookie recipe and liked it! I used the frosting recipe from Wilton, though, this first time. Looking forward to looking at it more. Very thorough.
