I received this book in 3 days and also the condition was very good. However, if you are planning to buy 4th edition of this book, you should go for that. Because 3-4 essays are different in this book comparing to the 4th edition.
I originally just needed this for school but came to really enjoy the essays. I love non-fiction essays and there was a wide range of topics, so it made it so interesting. It also introduced me to different authors, which is another plus. I can't recommend this enough!
These essays are mostly "identity-formation" essays about growing through adolescence and becoming "somebody." I found them pretty repetitive. I thought an anthology of "essays" might include comments on politics, economics, science, sports, literature, culture, or whatever.I was surprised that one could find 50 identity-formation essays and think of them as totally remarkable. I think this anthology panders to late adolescents' growing-up pains.
Purchased for AP Language and Composition class - interesting and diverse pieces! Thoughtfully chosen and presented with questions at the end of each selection that demands tight analysis by digging back into the text and supporting the answer. Great teaching and learning tool.
This book was purchased for summer reading for my daughter’s upcoming AP English class. The book is a little pricey for a new soft cover book but it was even more expensive in the traditional brick and mortar book store so I was happy to get an almost ten dollar price break. The book shipped quickly as well which was great! Definitely recommend buying this book new through Amazon!
